For now, I’ve decided that I want a lifestyle blog- with quite a few different categories. I want to write about as many different things as I can, until I get to the point where I can zone in on ‘that one thing’
I write about this extensively in another blog post.
This one however, here, right now, is about my love for small kitchen appliances.
I don’t like struggling- unnecessarily! So, if there’s something that can make something easier for me- and still produce quality,
I’m in!
and I guess that is essentially where my love for small appliances comes from.
Even specialty utensils – why must I finely chop garlic, when I can use the garlic press for instance? Sometimes it’s okay, and sometimes we just don’t have the luxury of time.
Why burn my fingers on the toast when I can use the toast thongs to get it out.
So, I guess in a way it’s like that saying: Boys and their toys!
In this case it’s just Girl toys we use in the kitchen.
I know, I know girls! We have lots of ‘toys’ not just kitchen toys- but for now, let’s stay in the kitchen.
I am also very particular!
If I am shopping for, let’s say an air fryer, I will look online (and in store, should I find myself there) and just go through all the different ones available. I will decide which one I like based on the brand, the look, the functions, and the power capacity (something I learnt recently lol)
It’s very important!
I learnt that the hard way – via a blender!
And when I’ve made up my mind about something, and I’ve done my homework, I will not be easily swayed.

My husband tries, he is entirely motivated by the price of course.
We recently had a bit of a situation, whereby we went out to buy a new microwave. The one we had for a little over ten years gave in – and it was time.
I loved that microwave, so I was going to look for one that’s very similar.
It must have lots of different functions and settings, good wattage of course and it must look good you know- compliment the kitchen!
So, we were there, in Game and we were looking around. I wanted a DEFY and we saw two that had what I wanted.
The one was inexpensive (I guess; when it comes to microwaves its okay!) and the other one cost more than double more.
The cheaper one has this ‘click here’ hand on the button that opens the door- and I hated that!
On this day we were also buying a Samsung smart tv and a soundbar, so my husband kinda persuaded me to go for the cheaper microwave.
Oh, but I loved the other one! I loved the look, the size, the functions- I loved everything about it!
But, because we were buying the other things as well, I caved!
We were able to take the microwave with us that same day, so we loaded it in the boot of our car and drove home. I was so quiet on the drive home; I could not stop thinking of the microwave in the back.
I didn’t like it!
And I would have to live with this for many years (we are lucky with appliances, they last!)
When we pulled into the driveway, I said to him: do not take that microwave out of the car, we are returning it tomorrow for the one that I really want!
I was not interested in having a conversation and I made sure he knew that. The next day we went back and got the one I wanted all along.
What a crazy weekend!
I will never do that again! I will not settle ever agan!
So now I have the microwave I wanted all along -and I love it!
It’s beautiful and powerful and it has lots of different functions – it is also a grill, should I ever need that.

What a wonderful machine! It is beautiful and of course it makes the most delicious drinks. I must be honest and say, at this moment, I still don’t feel like I have mastered the machine to the point where I would call myself an expert, but I’ll get there.
I wanted a Nespresso and like I said, my process is to look at all of them and decide which one I want- and this time was no different. I wanted this specific one! And I got it on a bit of a sale as well – so that’s always nice!
I love the machine! I feel like a real barista when I am using the wand to froth the milk, complete with the stainless-steel milk jug! and I absolutely love that it cleans itself immediately after use- that is amazing!
And we don’t even have to talk about how good the coffee is!
I also like the fact that the brand has all sorts of accessories! I bought some cups and coasters and a beautiful capsule dispenser.
This is the beginning of a very long love affair.
I actually bought a few things on top of each other recently, the other being a Russell Hobbs Air Fryer oven.
Exactly the one I wanted!
It is also very versatile, it is an air fryer over, a convection oven, has a turbo convection function, it can defrost and ferment.
Wow!
It is kinda big, it makes me wish my kitchen was bigger lol – but I love it! It looks beautiful and works like a charm. With it being an oven it obviously is quite spacious as well.
I know air fryers were all the craze for a long time, but I never really got into it- I just used my normal oven. But when I saw this one, I thought mmm…..
I like it! And then I got it!
It is so convenient! And fast! And I don’t have to tell you that it is the healthier option too.
Like is said, I love small appliances – and I will talk about them continuously!
I always have a list of ones I want to get next- and I will always come back here and tell you about it.
What’s next for me?
Right now, I have my sights set on the Nutri bullet smart touch blender, I really can’t wait to get that!
With the big jug and the wand, not to mention 1500 watts!
We have a Nutri bullet blender 600w now that we love.
I want to upgrade that one to something like the pro +1200 someday.
I also already have the 800w Nutri bullet Juicer.
I absolutely love my juicer, and I have made many varieties of fresh juices – and I will continue to for a very long time.

Something that I now find myself also very fascinated with is the SMEG stand mixer. I don’t know if it’s the influence of Nara Smith, but I want one!
(I know she uses the Kitchen aid brand) And I will definitely get the ice cream maker attachment as well.
